We need to have a conversation in the church about serving. How do we
serve people and tell them about Jesus in the context of relationship?
What does this look like day in and day out? How do we use an
organizational structure such as a ministry or non-profit entity to
connect the church to the community? How do we help people live out the
call of Jesus to love your neighbor as yourself? How do we do these
things locally and globally at the same time? These and many other
questions are what I want to begin tackling with this blog.
And
so after consultation with several people at Restore who have a passion
for serving--and much prayer--I am rebooting this blog.
My
name is Patrick O'Connell and I am
the Director of Reachout at Restore Community Church. (Reachout is what
other churches might call out reach.) At present Reachout is a catalyst
for serving at Restore. Yes, it's a ministry, but I am know that it
needs to become so much more.
This
blog will be a place to ask some questions, offer insights, and tell
stories about how God is using Reachout to change lives and make a
difference in Kansas City and the world. Reachout is a work in
progress. That's why want to invite you to share in this conversation
with me.
