Reverberate Team Brainstorms Ways to Serve in Cavaillon, Haiti

Tuesday night our Reverberate Team met at the Restore offices to brainstorm ways to create more relationships with our church and orphans in Cavaillon, Haiti.

There were three major topics/priorties the team contended with:

1. Kid City to Kid connections: Specifically, what can Kids City do to build stronger relationships with the Cavaillon Kids.
2. Orphan Care and Sponsorship: what can we do to help people at Restore become even more generous and sponsor more orphans?
3. Congregation to Congregation: What specific steps can we take to create deeper relationships with the people at the Cavaillon church.

The team has come up with some really cool ideas in each of these areas that we will be exploring. I am inspired that so many people would gather together to work-out how we can serve people so far away.

Hait Team Returns Tomorrow!

I was texting my wife Nancy in Haiti this morning. She's part of our Restore team that has been doing some Reachout activities near the church and orphanage we built.

I didn't have much time but she did tell me that everything has been going great. I can't wait to hear about all of the cool things they did.

The team is scheduled to return to KC tomorrow night on Southwest. A group of us will be there to welcome them home. Email at Reachout@restorecc.org if you want more details.

Haiti Reachout Team is in Cavaillon.

Seventeen people from Restore headed to Haiti yesterday--including my wife Nancy. They are part of the second team we've managed to send to Cavaillon, Haiti.

I am really excited about this trip because we are trying something new. Our team, led by Charlene Garrison, is going to conduct a community outreach program loosely based on VBS. The team plans to spend four days in hosting events and games for the 120 kids or so in our orphanage and invite kids from the local community as well. They've planned to serve 200 kids per day for 4 days!

I just love the fact that we are experimenting. After Restore raised the money for a church and two orphanages, it became clear that God was calling us to be intentional about relationships in Haiti just as we are here. I have no idea what this is going to look like given the obvious language barrier, but I am sure that it will be cool.

I plan on keeping you posted about the events around this trip. With limited communication I suspect that we will need to wait until the team gets back.

Restore Sending Our First Team to Haiti in April

At Restore, Reachout isn't just about serving the local community. No, we've gone global despite our youth.

Our partnership with C3 Missions has afforded us the opportunity to build a church and two orphanages in Caviallion Haiti.

Now that construction is underway, we are excited to have a team of people heading to Haiti next month to check it out.

You see, we don't want to settle for simply building a church. We have a dream of our people creating lasting relationships with people in Haiti.I am not sure what this will look like but I am excited all the same.

Restore Gathers 80 Bags of Supplies for Haiti Relief

Here's another example of the generosity of the people of Restore. 

C3 Missions International, one of our partners, asked us to help gather clothing and supplies for the people of Haiti who are suffering in the wake of recent storms there. C3 has purchased a 'Seatainer' and asking for help in filling it items for Haiti. When they asked Restore to help, our people responded--big time.

Over the course of two weeks we gathered nearly 80 bags of supplies. One woman who attends Restore loaded her entire car with supplies.

This is another example of our willingness to make a difference not only in our community, but in the world.
